Fort Bend County Clerk Records

You can search official records from 1872 to the present through the Fort Bend County online records search. The system lets you search by party name, instrument number, date range, or document type. Address and legal description searches are not supported in the basic tool, so you may need to check the appraisal district first for that information.

There are four ways to get copies of Fort Bend County property records. First, you can go in person to any of the four office locations. Staff can help you or you can use the public kiosks. Plain copies cost $1 per page, and certified copies add a $5 fee. Second, you can download free unofficial watermarked copies after registering online. Third, you can order certified copies online by clicking the certified copy icon and paying through the system. Fourth, you can mail a request with the instrument number, your contact information, and payment to the Richmond office.

The Fort Bend Central Appraisal District values over 350,000 properties in the county. Search by address, owner name, or account number. Death certificates are $21 for the first copy. Marriage licenses run $81 for Texas residents and $181 for people from out of state. Fort Bend County has records going back to its founding in 1837. Not all of these older records are available online. Some require an in-person visit to view. Fort Bend County Court Records

Civil cases cover contract disputes, personal injury, property disputes, and debt collection. Family cases include custody and support matters. Criminal cases cover all felonies. Copy fees vary. Standard copies run $1 per page. Certified documents cost $5 to $10 per certification plus per-page fees. Cash, credit and debit cards, and money orders are all accepted. A credit card convenience fee may apply. Under the Texas Public Information Act, most court records are open to the public. Juvenile records, adoptions, mental health cases, and sealed files are not available without a court order. Attorneys must e-file through eFileTexas.gov. Pro se parties can file in person or use the e-filing system.
