The Collin County Clerk keeps most of the public records you will find in the residents directory. This office stores land records, vital records, and assumed name certificates. It has two locations. The main office is at 2300 Bloomdale Road, Suite 2106, in McKinney. A second office sits at 900 East Park Boulevard in Plano. You can call the McKinney office at (972) 548-4185 or the Plano office at (972) 881-3025. Both are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Property records in Collin County are searchable online through the County Clerk's land recordings page. The deed search tool lets you look up records by name, instrument number, or volume and page. Records from January 2006 through April 2022 use a 17-digit instrument number that starts with the year, month, and day. After May 2, 2022, the format changed to 13-digit numbers that start with the year only. If you only have an address, search the Collin Central Appraisal District site first to get a legal description, then use that to find deeds.
There is one thing to keep in mind about the online database. Per state law HB 4350, some information is redacted from certain instruments. The online system does not serve as the official record. For official copies, you need to visit the office or request certified copies by mail. Recording a new document costs $25 for the first page and $4 for each page after that. Certified copies run $5 per document plus $1 per page.

Collin County Vital Records
