Amarillo Accident Reports

Amarillo has an online traffic accident reporting system. If your accident was minor with no injuries, you may be able to fill out a Blue Form online and print it for free. To use the online system, you must answer "No" to a list of questions: Is this an emergency? Are there injuries? Is this a hit-and-run with known driver info? Does it involve a drunk driver? Is a wrecker needed? Are more than two vehicles involved? Did it happen outside the city limits?

If you answer "Yes" to any of those, you need to call the right number. Emergencies go to 911. For all other situations, call the non-emergency line at 806-378-3038. Accidents outside city limits go to the appropriate jurisdiction.

You can also buy copies of completed accident reports at the police department front counter or online. The standard fee is $6. Questions about report purchases go to 806-378-9452. The TxDOT CRIS system also has Amarillo crash reports available 7 to 14 days after the incident.

Amarillo Open Records Requests

Open records requests can be sent online through the Amarillo Public Records Center, in person at 200 SE 3rd Ave, or by mail. The form asks for your name, ID or driver's license number, address, phone numbers, and a specific description of what you need. You sign the form and can check a box for expedited or redacted options.

The city processes non-confidential information quickly. If a record might fall under an exception, the department can ask the Attorney General for a review. That process can take up to 45 working days. Certain personal data is never released.
